Who we are

Livingspring Human Development Initiative (LHDI) is a non-governmental and non-political organization based in Osogbo, Osun State, Nigeria. It was established in 2014 and registered with Corporate Affairs Commission and Osun State Ministry of Women and Children Affairs the same year. 

LDHI focuses on youth development, young men and women empowerment, orphans and vulnerable children capacity building, adolescent sexuality and reproductive health and community health care-through awareness creation and prevention of illnesses and diseases

LHDI concentrates on helping people, institutions and communities to understand obstacles that inhibit them from realizing their developmental goals and enhance their abilities, skills and competencies that will allow them to overcome those impediments and achieve measurable and sustainable results.

Our Vision:  A society that is free of social vices, unemployment and injustice.

Our Mission:To develop capacity of individuals, organizations and societies to set and achieve their life developmental goals within a reasonable period of time/over period of time

Our Thematic Areas

LHDI create awareness on prevention of life threatening illnesses and diseases such as cancer, diabetes, hepatitis tuberculosis, malaria, HIV and sexually transmitted infections. Other services include: HIV counseling and testing, care and support of people living with HIV and affected by AIDS.

 

LHDI’S ASRH Program encompasses training on sexual health and rights, reproductive health and rights for the adolescent. The program aimed at minimizing continuing increase in the number of teenage pregnancy, abortion, early marriage and contraction of sexually transmitted infections among young persons.

Our Community Development program includes promotion of self-helped projects, advocacy visits to government and community linkage with relevant development partners

LHDI empowers young women (single mothers) and girls who have no strong financial capabilities to meet their basic needs. The strategies include vocational training, provision of take-off grant, equipment and provision of revolving interest free loans to expand their businesses.

LHDI concentrates on prevention and containment of child trafficking, labour and abuse via awareness creation on its dangers and consequences

Our primary target is to train, support, engage and monitor about fifty thousand unemployed and under-employed youths in Osun State within the next five years to minimize the burden of unemployment. Methodology-vocational training, capacity building training and life survival skills training.

LHDI provides quality and comprehensive services for  orphans and vulnerable children enrolled across the nooks and crannies of Osun-State. Basically, LHDI provides minimum package services to vulnerable children as recommended in the National Guidelines and Standards of Practice on OVC. It includes education, nutrition and psychosocial support, health, shelter, child right protection, clothes and household economic strengthening.

Our target is non-governmental organizations/non state actors. The services we offers include technical support and trainings on core components of NGO:- Leadership Development Training, Staff Recruitment training and Management, Volunteerism, Conflict Management/Resolution, Development of Sustainable Leadership Succession Plan, Project Design, Implementation and Management, Project Sustainability Strategies, Developing NGO Profile and Policies, Report Writing and Documentation, Writing of Fundable Proposal, Fund Raising and Strategic Plan Development.

LHDI focuses on leadership capacity building training for youth of today who are the leaders of tomorrow to ensuring good governance. It also embarks on civic education of the citizenries.

Advocacy,  Community mobilization and sensitization, Peer  Health education, Outreach programs, Capacity building training and retraining, HIV counseling and testing, Vocational training, provision of  take-off grant and equipment, Service delivery, Designing, production and distribution of behavior change communication materials and Networking and collaborating with development partners and relevant government agencies at all levels.

Osun State Action Committee on AIDS, Osun State Ministry of Women and Children Affairs, NAPTIP, National Orientation Agency, Media houses in the State,                                      Network of NGOs in Osun State, Civil Society organizations working on HIV/AIDS in Nigeria (CISHAN), Youth Network on HIV/AIDS in Nigeria (NYNETHA), Children and AIDS Coalition, Greater Involvement in Volunteering Effort (GIVE) Nigeria.
